CMT Poll Projects Taylor Swift as Big Winner at CMA Awards
She could walk away with as many as three wins at next week's CMA Awards, according to CMT's annual poll of 1,000 country music fans. Check out her latest music video
The CMT poll was 1000 young fans, not exactly a good representation of those who will be actually voting. I'll wait and see, thank you. _________________ Never worry about that which you cannot change. It is what it is for a reason.

CMT Poll Projects Taylor Swift as Big Winner at CMA Awards
November 3, 2009
Taylor Swift could walk away with as many as three wins at the 43rd annual CMA Awards, according to CMT's fourth annual poll of country music fans. The winners of the CMA Awards are determined by voting members of the Country Music Association, but CMT commissioned its annual poll using a random sample of 1,000 country music fans over the age of 18. The CMT poll predicts Swift to win female vocalist honors, the album of the year trophy for Fearless and the top prize -- entertainer of the year. Brooks & Dunn, who have announced their retirement as a duo following their 2010 tour, narrowly beat out Sugarland as fan favorites in the vocal duo category, the poll revealed. Poll results also project George Strait to be named male vocalist of the year and Rascal Flatts to win in the vocal group category. It also predicts "I Told You So" the Carrie Underwood hit written by Randy Travis, will be named song of the year. Although it's not an official CMA category, Underwood was declared the female artist with the best red carpet style when fans were polled by CMT. ABC will broadcast the CMA Awards show live from Nashville's Sommet Center on Nov. 11. _________________ LOVE EVERYBODY AS THEY ARE !

That's okay! I think that James looks great there!
Did you see the shot of Jake Owen? Every time that I have seen him in a suit, it never fits him, I feel bad for him.
God bless you and him and James always!!!
P.S. The pants that James had on at the ACM awards earlier this year, I would love to see him in those again because they made him stand out from behind. _________________ Forgive me for not being little Miss Perfect.

Well, it is voting time for CMA Members, and that means we are getting real close to the 2009 CMA Awards. 7 days in fact.
So, I think its time to go on the record with my predictions for the 43rd Annual Country Music Association Awards.
These are just that predictions.
Music Video- Taylor Swift "Love Story"
This category is always heard to call. There always great videos and personally, I don't watch too many videos. I'm going with Taylor Swift on this one.
Musical Event- "Start A Band" Brad Paisley and Keith Urban
Well, this category comes down to two I think. "Cowgirls Don't Cry" and "Start A Band." "I Told You So" was a great nominee, but doesn't have anywhere near the airplay that the other two does. I think talent in instrumentation takes this category, with the guitar work both of these talented artists give to the song. Plus, think about it, how many times have you heard this song in the past year?
New Artist- Zac Brown Band
Wow, I didn't like thinking about this category. Again, Zac Brown Band for their country music exposure, fan base, and attention they have received this year with "Chicken Fried" among other hits or the raw country talent of Jamey Johnson. This is one category I wish the final vote tally would be shared.. it will be close.
Single- "Chicken Fried"
Now remember, this category is more oabout the song itself, and not so much the songwriting aspects. This song has been addictive, massive airplay, made fans for the group, and just a plain fun song.
Song- "Then" Brad Paisley
Powerhouse lyrical ballad. This category focuses on the song lyrics. "In Color" as well could very easily win this award. If the Association follows their history of giving awards, "In Color" will miss the win... even though it may be justified to come out on top.
Album- "Fearless" Taylor Swift
Um, what can I say. One word- Sales. She has been a life line for the industry.
Vocal Duo- Sugarland
Look at the past year for this duo. There is Brooks & Dunn that may be the sentimental favorite.. as many times as they have won this award and announcing the end of the duo.
Vocal Group- Rascal Flatts
Another year for Rascal Flatts. Tour success and pop appeal just may be enough for another year for them.
Female Vocalist- Taylor Swift
Not much to say here... or to compete with. Look at album sales, she wins. Look at tour success, she wins. Look at just about any category and she is on top or close to it.
Male Vocalist- Kenny Cheseny
Well.. can we have a tie? Just give them all the award- 1 for each or cut it up into pieces. No, um, ok.. well, it can come down to a coin flip. I mean really. All 5 nominees live up to this award. Lets go with Kenny Chesney.
Entertainer- Taylor Swift
It's going to amazing to watch. Can you see her excitement already? I have a feeling we will see it live... her year has again been explosive to say the least. Tour, album, singles, character, and any other quality you can think of she has been the best of the best for country music this year. Not much of a close call, for a change. If she doesn't win it, well, that will be shocking. _________________ LOVE EVERYBODY AS THEY ARE !

By the way, I have never seen Jake Owen look bad.... I may be a little biased, I just love our Florida boy _________________ "Til it's worth the pain, you're just walking in the dark, that's what it takes To Find a Heart." - Big Kenny

I know you are a big LBT fan, but has anyone noticed how Lady A has risen. They don't know HOW to put out a song that does not become a hit. They are the new group to watch.....and don't forget Zack Brown either.
BTW, I love the harmony that LBT has, among the best!! _________________ Never worry about that which you cannot change. It is what it is for a reason.

As much as I adore LBT, I would be incredibly shocked if they won. I think the big competition is between Lady A, ZBB, and RF. ...and I think RF better be prepared for the possibility of losing, unlike other years where they just strut up there and act like, "we had this in the bag all along"
Personally, I don't see how LBT or The Eagles could NOT win, but it all goes back to who makes the most money and sadly that isn't either of those two
I really miss Emerson Drive in this category. Another extremely talented band ignored. Those guys really need to catch a break... _________________ A supporter of talent

Taylor Swift will perform the opening song of the 43rd annual CMA Awards show, organizers announced Monday (Nov. 9) as rehearsals continued at the Sommet Center in downtown Nashville.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood began preparing for their hosting duties Sunday (Nov. , the same day Tim McGraw, Miranda Lambert and Billy Currington rehearsed their musical performances. Swift, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Sugarland, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean spent part of Monday rehearsing their songs.
The three-hour awards show will air live Wednesday (Nov. 11) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, but the event is just one of the celebrations taking place in Nashville this week. Aside from the after-show parties hosted by the record labels, songwriters and music publishers will be gathering at awards presentations sponsored by two performance rights organizations. SESAC's 2009 Nashville Music Awards will take place Monday night, and the 57th annual BMI Country Awards is scheduled Tuesday.
Singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson will be honored as a BMI Icon for his "unique and indelible influence" on songwriters and musicians. Among those expected to attend the awards dinner are Swift, Urban, Underwood, Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus, Brooks & Dunn, Lady Antebellum, Sara Evans, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack, Jack Ingram, Gary Allan, Patty Griffin, Sugarland's Kristian Bush and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons.
As always, though, the CMA Awards remains the biggest event of all. In addition to the previously-mentioned artists, performances will also be provided by Brooks & Dunn, Vince Gill and Daughtry, Kid Rock and Jamey Johnson, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Sugarland and the Zac Brown Band. Dave Matthews will be featured with Chesney.
Those presenting awards include Julianne Hough, Randy Houser, the Judds, Jake Owen, Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes, Kristofferson, Womack and Kid Rock. Other presenters include Dale Earnhardt Jr., actor Neil Flynn, actress Patricia Heaton and Good Morning America's Robin Roberts.
Paisley and Underwood will perform one song each Tuesday (Nov. 10) during live segments on Good Morning America. The performances will take place outside the Sommet Center and are open to the public. _________________ LOVE EVERYBODY AS THEY ARE !

» Rest Stop: Ordered to rest her voice, a very disappointed Taylor Swift skipped her scheduled rounds at this morning's Premiere CMA Awards Radio Remote. This afternoon, however, she shrugged off the restriction and spent 90 minutes visiting with stations. "I just couldn't let radio down," Swift told WDSY/Pittsburgh's Stoney Richards. Our report in yesterday's Country Aircheck Weekly about Swift inexplicably rehearsing both "Fifteen" and "Forever And Always" seems to be cleared up by indications she will indeed have two performance slots on Wednesday's CMA telecast. In other news, hundreds of fans crowded the Sommet Center Plaza at downtown Nashville's Fifth and Broadway this morning (11/10) to watch awards co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood perform a concert broadcast in part on Good Morning America. Watch Paisley play "American Saturday Night" and Underwood debut "Temporary Home." _________________ LOVE EVERYBODY AS THEY ARE !

» Tied Together With A Smile: Not that ABC-TV needed convincing, but the ratings success of Taylor Swift's Saturday Night Live appearance (11/7) on NBC has to make them feel good about choosing Swift to open Wednesday's 43rd Annual CMA Awards (11/11). According to thrfeed.com, Swift's hosting and musical guest turn on SNL pushed the show to a season-high 5.0 rating. Swift drew generally positive Internet chatter during the show, taking jabs at Joe Jonas and Kanye West and giving a shout-out to Twilight's Taylor Lautner in her opening "Monologue Song (La La La)." She spoofed a media-crazed Kate Gosselin on The View, played motivational inmate "Skeet Devlin" from the program "Scared Straight" and channeled Shakira. Honky Tonky Happy Hour: Why I Won’t Be Watching The CMA Awards
Miss Leslie | November 10th, 2009 Email Share
I haven’t watched the CMA awards in years. Sometimes I’ve had a gig, but most of the time, there wasn’t anything there to interest me. I would flip channels and land on the awards show, but wouldn’t stay long. In the 80s, I didn’t miss a show. All my favorite artists were on. Country had encountered a “traditional” country revival of sorts and I was head over heels (musically speaking) about Ricky Skaggs and his fiddle player, Bobby Hicks. I wanted to hear Randy Travis and George Strait and Reba McEntire live.
I think my lack of enthusiasm for the current awards show is because I’m not a fan of the artists in general, so there’s not anything drawing me to the show itself. I know that the show gets flak for lip syncing and bad hosting and too much focus on glitz and glam, but honestly, if my favorite artists were a part of it, I could get past all of the frills.
Which is why people watch the shows–they’re fans. And I get that.
But I’m not a fan–I perused the list of nominees and just didn’t see me drawn in. I have a small temptation with Lee Ann Womack and Jamey Johnson, but I can’t endure the whole show for that.
What bothers me the most is the lack of diversity exhibited by the CMA. There’s no bluegrass, no Americana, no Red Dirt, no Hardcore–the show and the music is centered upon the hitmakers. But what is country music? Is it only those limited sounds produced by the Top 10 on Billboard?
While I understand the philosophy of having “all the big stars,” I have a proposal for the CMA Execs that involves a concept that record labels continually try to nail down: Appeal to everyone.
Why not have a Bluegrass portion? You could have performances by Ricky Skaggs or The Cherryholmes Family or Nickel Creek or Alison Krauss or The Steeldrivers.
How about Red Dirt music? Get Randy Rogers or Deryl Dodd or Kevin Fowler on the show. And Americana? Grab Jim Lauderdale, Randy Crowell, or Buddy & Julie Miller. Hardcore Country? You could bring in older Nashville acts from George Jones to Connie Smith to the Texas honky tonkers like veteran Dale Watson and younger newcomers like Amber Digby and Justin Trevino.
Maybe even Rockabilly with acts like Hank III, Big Sandy, Wayne “The Train” Hancock and Deke Dickerson. And have awards of course–Best Bluegrass Album of the Year, Best Red Dirt Album of the Year, etc.
Suddenly, there’s something for everyone; the hard partying 20 year olds, the over-60 retirees, the environmentally friendly hippies, the middle age hipsters, and of course, with the hitmakers you’ll still keep your young to middle age mainstream crowd. (And, for once, you might actually get musicians watching the show.)
And I wouldn’t extend the show–just cut back the existing list of performers and insert one of the above. Some of the performance choices are baffling. You’ve got Lee Ann Womack up for a nomination and there as a presenter, but she’s not singing. But Dave Matthews is? Really? I am a past Dave Matthews fan, but he can’t hold a candle vocally to Lee Ann. And why is Kid Rock performing? Maybe that’s the CMA exec attempt at appealing to more people. No Kid Rock fan is going to sit through an entire night of country to hear him sing with Jamey Johnson, though. Put Jamey up there on his own–give him a guitar and let him loose with “In Color.”
I understand that “live” performances have changed–it’s a show. It’s theatrical. But are we missing the music? Has the rise of artists like Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, The Dixie Chicks, and others not taught us anything about the genuine thirst that we have to hear musical performances? To watch a band that features not only a gifted singer singing a well written song, but instrumentalists that are just as much a strong part of the performance. You could include the guys up for Musician of the Year. Paul Franklin could have the audience with their jaws dropped or on their knees in tears.
My frustration with the awards shows is probably more tied to my frustration with music and with live performances in general. I regret our current lack of diversity and lack of focus on music and musicians that are truly allowed to play as opposed to sitting in the background playing fills. Fills and frills. I guess that sums up live music award performances to me–lots of icing and no cake. I love icing, but I get sick if that’s all there is.
I don’t have a gig tomorrow. I’ll be at home–possibly flipping channels. I’ll probably land on the CMA Awards at some point. I’ll be slightly interested in the dresses and the hair (I always wonder what Reba’s going to pull out of her hat). I might watch part of a performance or hear a bad lead-in by a presenter. But if I knew that there were some or all of the categories included that I mentioned earlier, I’d only be flipping during commercials. And you can report that to Nielsen.

^^^ I would love to see Alison Krauss up there again. Her last time singing at the CMA awards was the 2007 show with "Simple Love".
I wish that Jamey Johnson would sing "In Color" tomorrow night too and have James go up there and sing it with him since they wrote it together. I love to hear James sing it already.
