I really like it, it's not country but I could see Taylor Hicks doing something country or southern rock sounding.

I've been a big country fan all of my life and there are a lot of "country artists" out there today singing songs that aren't traditional country.

A lot of artists "cross over" to different genre's of music. Daughtry certainly isn't country but just recorded a song with Vince Gill.
Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood have crossed over from Country and can be heard any day of the week on different Pop stations, among many other country artists. I have never heard anyone say, "well they are not now or ever were Pop singers". They just enjoy the music, the song the artist has recorded and a lot of these listeners would never think of turning on a country station.
Sounds like you just don't like Mr. Hicks. Too bad....I've seen the gentleman in concert several times and his energy and soul is unbelieveable. He really feels the song. Taylor has sung with Willie Nelson before on stage and had many nice things to say about Willie.
He has a lot of years ahead of him to record music. Don't say never you may eat your words.

You know what they say when one assumes!
I quite like Taylor - I enjoyed him when he was on American Idol and I like the music he has released since then - but he is NOT country and never has been and he doesn't market himself as country.
As for eating my words - nothing to eat - like I said YOU should never ASSume you know what others like/dislike. _________________ No sense beating our heads about the attitudes of those that cannot/will not change - just gives ya headache!

Nice to meet you Joy! Everyone I've "talked" to here so far have been very nice. Unfortunately, some people think only like-minded people need to apply. It's actually quite comical how some people "think".

Didn't Taylor spend several years in Nashville trying to get a record deal before he tried out for American Idol?

Taylor did live in Nashville before American Idol. Taylor wrote a book and talked about Willie Nelson who sang one of his favorite duets of all time, "Seven Spanish Angels" with Ray Charles. Taylor quoted Willie Nelson who once said that we create our own unhappiness and that the purpose of suffering is to help us understand that we are the ones who cause it.
Taylor said Willie always struck him as one happy man, so he took his words to heart. Taylor said that a big lesson that got reaffirmed for him in Nashville is that if you're unhappy, you shouldn't just sit around wallowing in misery-rather, go out and do something to change your life. If you don't change it, who else will?
Taylor wrote about all his years on the road-trying to make it in Nashville and those Southern Honky-tonks known as the "Chitlin Circuit". He worked in these bars for 10 years before Idol. There is a lot more to Taylor than most people know about.

There are many cross-over artists, and Taylor has several songs that are considered country. I love WRIR and consider it to be country and pop, as well as bluesy.
